Match Day Drinks Breaks
SunSmart recommend re-applying sunscreen and blockout /zinc creams every two hours if in the sun but that is without exercise.
Drinks breaks in cricket are taken every hour or up to twice within a session. It should be common practice to re-apply sunscreens and block out at the same time. Sunscreens should be reapplied at lunch and tea breaks as well.
In other summer sports non players who attend to players on the field should not only carry drinks but sunscreens to the players to help them reapply in a timely manner.
Information sessions could be organised to kick start the Club’s commitment to a SunSmart campaign. This would provide information on steps being taken by the Club, steps to be taken by individuals and to provide information about skin cancer and its prevention.
